Your fishing trip begins with a unique method of launching as we have no harbor. You will load into the vessels on the beach and be launched into the surf by log skidders. Most find this an interesting beginning to their fishing day. We troll for king salmon along the beaches and at tide change run a short distance to the halibut fishing grounds. During the boat ride you may have the chance of seeing some of Alaskas rich wildlife. On the beach, frequently you will see Bald Eagles as they search for food. In the water we frequently see sea birds of all kinds, whales, seals and otters. Bring your camera for scenic pictures of the mountains that grace the shoreline of West Cook Inlet. On a clear day you can see four active volcano's. Alaska's Cook Inlet has some of the most extreme tides in the world. Because of this, your fishing charter is based on the times of the tide. However you will be the only charter for the day. We do not believe in "doubles". We believe in order for you to recieve our best there is not enough room in one day for two trips. Be assured that Fishward Bound Adventures will have your full attention from start to finish.
We take great pride, care and maitenance of the fishing tackle, gear and bait that is provided for your day of fishing. We use the best gear available, from our bait casting reels, downriggers, salmon trolling rods, to the stand up rods and two speed reels that help make pulling up halibut from the deep waters of Cook Inlet with ease. We troll herring for king salmon, sometimes we use hardware such as t-spoons and hootchies depending on the timing of the king salmon runs. Salmon rods are 9 ft. Daiwa in-line downrigger, dipsy diver rods that make for a unique experience once the hook is set. The salmon reels are Penn 320 GTI's, spooled with 30 lb. Tuff Line Plus. Stand-up rods are the common for halibut fishing. The halibut reels are Penn GLD two speeds spooled with 80 # Tuff line Plus. Halibut are ferocious bottom feeders, the bait of choice is herring, octopus, salmon or cod all wrapped around a double circle hook set up. Our halibut leaders are custom made by the Guides, not available at any retail outlet. To make the halibut fishing even more comfortable we also provide belts or the new Rod Huki stand up rod adapters. It is our hope that in providing top notch gear it will enhance your fishing experience and bring you back time after time. Your hosts, Tim & Jodi Evers, invite you to join them for the fishing adventure of a lifetime.
